I Need A Name For A New Animal Rescue Org That Saves Dogs From Puppy Mills.

Posted by 2olivesplease on 250 Points
Greetings,
I've been wracking my brain. Any insight would be welcomed. I need help with a name for a rescue organization that I am starting. All of our dogs are rescued from puppy mills in Lancaster County, PA. They come from deplorable conditions and for many, being rescued is their last and only chance at a real life outside of a cage. I've thought of the following names but they are taken after doing a quick Google search:

Second Chance (Animal) Rescue
Last Chance (Animal) Rescue
Last Hope (Animal) Rescue
Saving Grace (Animal) Rescue
New Leash on Life (Animal) Rescue
Winding Road Rescue
A Tail to Tell (Animal) Rescue
Paws for People
Paws for Peace

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Puppy farms are an extension of modern farming practices where profits come before the needs of the animal or the plant. These dogs are seen as profits on four legs, and maximizing the profit usually comes at the expense of the dog. It's not fair, but that's how people are when they're fixated on dollars and not on happiness. I could go on ...

More to the point is what people are thinking when they take action about the things you're campaigning about. They aren't likely to be the kind of people who want a cheap present to go along with the bundles they bought at Walmart the same week. They don't know, don't care and don't want to be told. To them an animal is an animal and costs what it costs. The real issue is one of awareness, and in this case the starting point is dogs stuffed into small cages. It could be pigs, cattle or maize - the people you should be starting with are those who already know something about what unscrupulous businessmen are doing to our environment. Because by fitting your name to the vision they have will make it more effective.

So after all that waffle, let's have a look at some names. I liked paws for people - as it implies the kind of person who will take a little time out for animals. The unscrupulous businessman doesn't even do that for his money, let alone his animals so we have a dividing line as it were. Giving the animal time - that also implies space. A courtesy on behalf of an animal you've never seen. In truth, it's the secret of the best marketers too: they give space to those who they're serving. It's also called "listening".

Just as an aside is there a .dog extension ;-) ??

I'm also thinking along the lines of old dogs learning new tricks. As in old dogs learning there's a new life to be had. It'll need working on - perhaps it'll inspire some thoughts for you?

    The right way
    the right path
    let dogs live!
    a dog's first amendment

I'll leave that as it is for now. Let me know which direction you like (or one you've come up with yourself) and I can sort out some domains for you that match. They're actually easier than you'd think, adding an "a" instead of "the" often works ;-)

Why not simply "Lancaster County Dog Rescue"? That'll make it easier to find you online. The names/emotions you can put into the tagline.

Who is the target audience? What do you want people to do/think when they see the name?

Both Steve and Jay have given you some good direction, depending on what you want the name to do for you.
