I provide billing services for small attorney offices. I'm interested in naming my business and having a tag line. I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

    What region do you serve?
Why would attorneys entrust their billing to you (instead of doing it themselves or hiring one of your competitors)?
What special knowledge of legal billing do you have?
What criteria will you use to judge names and/or taglines?

I serve a local area in Maryland although I could expand my service area. Could easily provide services virtually as we'll.
I have several years experience providing legal billing services plus billing experience in the corporate arena. I have local references.
Attorneys would benefit from me doing their billing because it would allow them more time to earn money. That's where their strength is. Doesn't pay for them to do their own.
With regard to criteria in selecting a name and tag line I want something that people will remember. And something that will fit who I am.
Thank you so much for your time and your expertise!

    How about "TimeSavers Legal Billing"?

Hi there, Angie. When you say "With regard to criteria in selecting a name and tag line I want something that people will remember. And something that will fit who I am. " - the best taglines do that. They're also the hardest!

A good tagline will tell them something about you - or about the way you do your business. It also needs to describe what they get. They don't need the details of how you do things, that's what they're employing you to sort out for them. Now you have a stack of references - and I would like you to take a look at them with a slightly different point of view. That is to say, look at them and the way they talk about you, the way they describe you. Forget the "she's a hard worker" "diligent" I'm looking for that very small special something that makes your service shine.

For me it was when someone said I had a "gezonde dosis humor" - a healthy dose of humor. That and a few other things is how I appear to most. Not all, but most. The "most" being the ones that count. That's the key to your tagline. Everything needs to fit your special something. That's when someone looks at it and there's no second look. They're already on the phone.

For the sake of transparency, I'd have your name as the business name - or at least part. If you choose not to, that's your right - only remember you're providing a personal service, and the more personal it is (well ... not quite that personal!) (okay, so you never know, he might be Mr. Right) the easier it will be for them to know you're the real thing.

A few taglines for you - unfocused as yet. We can come to that. At least you'll have an idea of the landscape.

    - hassle free billing [presuming these guys understand the terminology! Coz I doesn't ... ][I'm not a lawyer]
    - billing made easy
    - billing without the hassle
    - your bills paid.
    - sorting your bills properly
    - your legal billing sorted. No hassle.
    - save time with my legal billing service.
    - my billing service saves you time
    - my billing service saves hassle.

only they're missing something. What do you think so far?

I'd suggest starting with a name, then developing an appropriate (matching) tagline. Here are a couple of naming suggestions:

    (Mid-)Atlantic Legal Billing
    Chesapeake Legal Billing

Maryland's Leading Independent Legal Billing Authority.

If no one else is saying this, by claiming it as your own, you position yourself as the leading independent legal billing authority in Maryland. The more you reinforce this position, the more
accepted it becomes, because you ARE the leading independent legal billing authority.

Notice here you're not claiming to be an EXPERT. That comes later and will be bestowed upon
you by others (which then reinforces your original assertion as an authority).

Following Mr Bloomer's advice, if it isn't this where you can stake your claim to difference, there will be something that you can. Remember that Claude Hopkins claimed something for Schlitz beer that all beers used - but none of Schlitz's competition did, so Schiltz got the cred, and the sales.

You can state your expertise in many more ways than just stating it. Usually this puts good customers at their ease - and rattles bad ones (so they complain!). It's an acid test of good clients ;-)
