Sigh ... WHY, oh WHY, does the name have to be "catchy"? What KIND of portal (I'm presuming here you mean a website)? Focusing on which region or nation? To what end? Generating revenue how? With what kind of monthly visitation? (The notion of "If you build it, they will come" no longer works as well as it may have done 10 years ago).

Thank you all for suggesting the names. In the recent development with the internal team, we decided to keep the localised name. Since we are based in India and targeting only Indians across the globe, we are now concentrating on the name in Hindi.

To answer Gary's problem - there is a big problem in marketing, and it is the person that demands the customer dance to their tune. It's common with corporations, and those that would think in such a manner - that is to say, defensively. The psychology of defensiveness is dealt with in some detail on my website.

However if you extrapolate a "tagline" to mean "USP" then the whole thing becomes a little clearer. It does require the business and those engaged in it to be willing to strut their stuff. Expressing your USP as a tagline **WILL** make it catchy for those customers who will be a good match for your business.

It will need careful honing to get just right - but the essence of the tagline will still be present. Furthermore, just like mine, they are easy to translate into other languages as the core of the message is a picture.
