Combining Blogs?- Need Help With Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Im fairly new to this blogging thing.
I started with a blog which focused on healthy and easy options. (TheWeightIsOver101.wordpress.com).
I also have a youtube channel on beauty, fashion, reviews and DIY'S. I was highly suggested to start a blog for this which is (simplysarah.ca)
Its a mess, Its too spastic and all over the place.
I was thinking of combining everything and make it a lifestyle blog. thoughts on that?
Im really not very good at all of this but with my Weight is over blog and my youtube channel becoming successful I need a good place for people to go to.
Does anyone have any suggestions on any of this and possible taglines to sum up everything?

I appreciate you time
Thank you very much

    Congratulations! Success is fun, right?

Before we can be really helpful to you, though, we need to understand what you are trying to accomplish? What does success look like for you?

As a general rule, you probably need to have a different/separate blog/YouTube channel for each distinct target audience and/or benefit promise. Putting them together usually means the combined entity is less relevant -- and less impactful -- for everyone. If you've been successful so far, don't tamper with it until you've done some serious testing.

"Its a mess, Its too spastic and all over the place" - you and me both! There are times when I feel that walking backwards would do me better.

I want to focus on a different aspect from that of Mr Goodman - and that is the quality of what you do. Because you've made something of a success with presentation, both visually and on screen. Both will be "you" - and both have been successful because of your input. That success is because of your quality. Whatever it is, those people who watch and read know what it is, and want more of it.

Your tagline needs to speak of this so that people who like that style (= quality) will get it, and won't need to look any further.

My suggestion is to look at the things people have said on comments - on your blog and on youtube. They'll speak of who and what your style is. By the way, if you want a genuine cucumber, make sure it's the variety "Telegraph" (from around 1880); it's unlike anything you've tasted - rich, succulent, completely cucumber without any of that flimsy wateriness you get with a modern cuc. Be warned they are open pollinated - and when fertilized are bitter. You do have to grow them for yourself though ...

And I'm feeling dopey - I've just caught your very clever wordpress url. You should join in here, we need a bit more creativity!!

I'm zonked; back later. Did this help any? You can also ask your friends what they think of your "style". Better than asking them what they think of you ;-) and you'll get a better quality answer. Therein will lie the keys to your tagline. Tell us, and we'll do the rest (especially me and Saul D).

All success and congratulations aside ... (and really, I'm happy for you that you're doing something you enjoy) ... you need to stop, take stock, and focus.

Having all these ideas is one thing. Combining them into a lifestyle blog is another. I urge you to focus on one ASPECT of lifestyle—not all of it, just ONE THING. It could be hair. it could be make-up. It could be food. It could be fitness. If your weight blog is working and if your YouTube channel is linked to this subject and if you're getting traffic, subscribers, and conversions KEEP DOING THIS ONE THING.

On top of all this you need a plan. Not a hodgepodge of bits and pieces, because all the little bits of crap will DRIVE YOU MAD. You need a plan. I'm currently revamping and reviewing my own site and I'm going through a similar process ... so, I feel your pain. Up until a few months ago, I was all over the place. But now, I have a plan, a direction, and a mentor.

You also need your own domain name: theweightisover101.com is available. The sooner you get off Wordpress and onto your own hosted solution, the better. I use JustHost.com and have done for almost 5 years. i'm very happy with their service. By all means remain on the Wordpress platform, but get off the Wordpress site: if you breach their TOS you're hosed.

You'd also do well to set up Facebook and Twitter accounts (unless you've already done this) and they need to be high up and on the righthand sidebar of your site. You can then use social media to build an audience and drive traffic to your site and offers.
