Need Help With My Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have decided to revise my old business, New World Marketing. I started my company back when Social Media was just beginning, and I was showing businesses how to utilize this tool to help generate more awareness of their companies online. Since then, my focus has switched, but now I am back. I came up with a new name for my company "Social Media Diva" but I need a sassy/catchy tagline. My old tag line was "Unique ideas for the modern world" but it doesn't fit my revised company. Please help!

Having "diva" in your name adds the sass factor. What your tagline wants to do is make it clear who specifically you're trying to help - and what makes you different/special. Can you share more details?

Who is your target audience? What unique positioning benefit do you promise (and deliver to) them?

What you need is a USP. You need it to demonstrate why you're a diva! Just saying it these days has people thinking ... "yeah". Be warned that executing your USP will upset people - I do it here and I'm on the moderator's hitlist. It works for the questioners though, and that's a way bigger concern for me. After all, they're buying, as it were.

Both of the questions above allude to this. So get a little edgy, work out what you do in social media and elsewhere that irritates a few people. Because that's the clue to your specialism. The people who like what you do will love you for it, and flock to you because they've found what they need. On the other hand, there will be people who are irritated by your USP. However it characterizes the low grade client, so upsetting them is usually beneficial to your profit margins.

So: a few questions to answer

    1) what have you done that upsets a small section of your client base? (ahem, do more of it!).
    2) what do people say when recommending your services?
    3) what have your friends told you that you excel at?

It won't be much, it will be special and it will run through your life and your business like the letters through a stick of rock. (If you guys get those??). It will also charm your best customers, and since a good customer drives 4x the profit of the average, getting another is well worth the effort involved.

    Over to you!
