Dissertation Literature Review

My dissertation will investigate if social media has been an influencing factor in starting a worldwide trend. My research will hopefully answer the question: What effect has social media had on the natural hair movement? And my objectives are as follows:

To establish the impact social networking websites have had on the promotion of the natural hair movement.

To identify whether or not social networking websites have influenced the surge of women supporting the natural hair movement.

I was hoping i could get some good ideas on how to gather this research e.g. focus groups with black hairdressers?

    When you say "What effect has social media had on the natural hair movement?" can we work this backwards, please?

    Why do women want natural hair products and how do they tell each other. Many women use "ordinary" hair stuff that has some very nasty chemicals in it - many of them carcinogens. Most women simply do not know, or assume that because the government's said it's okay, that it is okay. This latter is becoming weaker as trust slowly evaporates - and the realization that all is not as well as it would appear. How would someone like that find out, perhaps one of her friends tweeted someting for the 30th time and this time it happened to strike a chord.
