Best Email Subject Lines?

Posted by astryker on 50 Points
Good morning! I'm just learning about e-marketing, and something I've never really paid attention to before is email subject lines. I've been paying more attention to the emails I click and which ones I don't. I've seen some great ones recently, especially when I haven't clicked on the first one, and I was wondering if anyone had any they found worked particularly well for their company (or on them!).

One I've had recently is from a marketer who sent the message from her personal account (at least it had her name in the "from" line) and the subject line was: "Are you mad at me?" I clicked immediately, but unfortunately the body copy wasn't nearly as good as the subject line.

The second was from HubSpot, who have been impressing me with their emails of late, and it was "Can I help you?"—again, from a "real" person.

Does anyone have any others they'd like to share? I want to improve the open rates for some of my own emails.

my suggestion is to be honest. There are lots of sneaky ways to get people's attention, but I think that's a bad way to begin a relationship.

there must be hundreds of webpages with advice. My suggestion would be to begin with a Google search, read a few dozen articles on the subject, and come back here with more specific ideas and questions.
