Need A Tagline For A Jewellery Start Up

Posted by tarapremsingh on 250 Points
I've been in the Indian jewellery industry for a decade now, in the area of high-end precious jewellery design. I have now started my own company, to promote in-house creations under the brand name 'PRECIOUS TALES'. Initially, the ratio of in-house jewellery offerings in silver and gold would be in a 90:10. However, eventually, I do hope to primarily focus on making customised precious jewellery for private clientele, to suit their specific needs vis-a-vis personal style, occasion for wear, budgets, etc. I would like the idea that - each jewel could come to mean more than an object of art / intrinsic value... it could come to resonate on a more deeper personal level to the wearer - to be reflected in the tagline. As a designer/creator, I do also believe in highlighting the story/tale that goes behind bringing a piece of jewellery to life, right from scratch.

    Many Thanks!!

I like "Express Yourself", BUT I can't get Madonna out of my head when I hear that... sounds over-used.

I liked the train of thought vis-a-vis saul.dobney's Memories/moments marked in gold/ Mark the moment in gold. However, I wonder if using the word 'gold' might be perceived as that I ONLY use gold and not other precious materials, which by the way, I do. Hence, I'm hesitant. What do you think?

Also, I came up with a few on my own. Feedback would be highly appreciated.

Jewelmarked (as a spin off from saul.dobney's, of course)

    Refreshingly Bespoke Jewels

    Living Jewels

    Bespoke. Jewel. You.

    Celebrate The Jewel In You

    Let's Handcraft Yours

Celebrate the Jewel in You seems to evoke the personable fit. Let's Handcraft Yours shows you are focusing on the individual. The others don't seem to add value to the business name.

The word "bespoke" has a negative connotation in many cases, certainly in the business world. Tailored is a slightly better word. And "bespoke" doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well.

My question for you: do you want this to be a hip tagline/edgy? Are you trying to pull out the emotional plea or just generally motivating/inspirational/creative? The tagline will need to contain something that intimates more of your offering, so the word jewelry, jewels, metalwork, valuables, etc. needs to be included to catch the consumer.

How stuck are you with the business name? I'm just throwing out an idea of "Personal Treasures". If you've already invested in the "Precious Tales' brand and it's gone down the path of high visibility and awareness and/or you feel very strong about it, then stick with it. Just thought I'd make that suggestion.

Thank you for your feedback tcgren.

The two tag lines mentioned seem to be the top 2 so far, based on polls with my friends and family too. Based on your specific observations, I see why they seem to fit better than the rest.

As for between the two, I take it that 'Celebrate The Jewel In You' works better than 'Let's Handcraft Yours', in that it mentions the word 'Jewel', which is important considering the brand name indicates nothing about the product we're dealing with. Just mentioning 'Handcrafted', although an important fact of how we create our products, does not indicate what product we deal with. Sigh.

I would stick to 'Precious Tales' versus 'Personal Treasures'.... looking beyond the fact that I've already invested in obtaining legal rights to the name.... I feel the term 'treasures' seems to connote to an object, as opposed to 'tales' meaning more than an object. I think I like the element of meta-physicality coming through in the name.

I do want the tag line to go beyond a mere hip/edgy one. I wouldn't choose the emotional plea way either. I would like it to position my jewellery that has a long-standing motivating/inspirational/creative tone.

Looking forward to arriving at The One...

    Thanks again.
