Qualifications Of A Successful Marketing Manager

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Which qualifications a Marketer must own to be successful?
I have a creative and flexible mind. I hate the boringness in life and always seek for something new, something which can make me surprised. I refresh myself everyday. I can organize and plan something in such a really excellent way that everybody seems to be shocked. I struggled lots of job such as a banker, a businessman, ... and I find that no jobs suitable for me other than as a Marketer. I decided to continue my schooling and applied for a Master Degree in Marketing at univerisity.
But, I am now very confusing about the only thing that I always have my own point of view. It's difficult for me to change my personal opinions to satisfy others. I know I have to keep this saying in my mind ''in Marketing we are always wrong and our customers are always right''. Yet I don't want to accept I am wrong to receive satisfaction from customers. Sometimes in relationship with others, I don't care what they are thinking, what they really want. My life principle is ' I only treat well with people who treat well to me'

In my country, Marketing in most of companies is not considered one of the most important factors to contribute the success of the company. I really want to make a change.

Can I be a successful marketer?

When I read your post, I walk away with one main feeling: You're a stubborn person who thinks you're always right.

    Believe me, you're not alone.

While that might not make you a good banker or salesperson, it might very well make you a good marketer. Of course, it might not.

It's important to hold true to your beliefs and not be easily swayed. If you feel strongly that a certain way is the best way to market a product or service, and assuming you have the authority to do it the way you want, run with it. If it works, great. No one will care that you were stubborn about it.

Of course, if you act stubborn and end up being wrong--and at some point in your life, you will be--then you're going to look like a fool if you were very stubborn about it, even more so if things have gone wrong several times.

I do think that, no matter what you end up doing in life, you're going to have to become a better listener and open yourself up to other's feelings, thoughts, and interests. You said yourself that sometimes you don't care what other people are thinking. Does that really sound like the kind of person you want to be?

Perhaps marketing is not the path for you. You say that you're a great organizer and planner, so perhaps something that takes these skills into account is more appropriate.

    Good luck!
