The Choice Of School: Imc Or Ms.marketing?

Posted by icebrinkplus on 250 Points
Hi, I'm Tony

I’m the student who already got some offers of admissions form some graduate schools.

Now I face the problem of making a choice, relative to my career path. In my admissions, there are two different kinds of marketing graduate schools: MS. Marketing, like UT Dallas, and IMC (integrated marketing communication), like Emerson College.

My background is product design, and I hope I can be a marketer of design (working in a design house/department, cooperating with designers to decide the stylish appearance of products) after graduation.

Which school should I choose?

Thanks for help.

Either one could be good. It mostly depends on which one feels best for your needs. Neither one would be a big mistake.

Your success in the business world will be mostly a function of you, your work ethic, the way you approach problems, your leadership skills, etc. Which degree you hold, or which school you attended, will not be a major factor.

Just do your best to learn everything you can at whichever school you pick.

Toss a coin. Best of three. Make a list of pros and cons. Make a list of costs and eventual gains.

One thing to bear in mind is how long you'll be in debt: how long it will take you to earn enough to pay off the loans and the interest. Several friends of mine completed their advanced degrees in the mid 30s to mid 40s (which for several of them, was 10 years ago), and they're still paying off their student debts, along with paying rent, mortgages, car payments, and assorted other everyday expenses.
