Slogan Needed For Pre Owned Clothing Store

Posted by Jennsreality on 250 Points
I am in need of a catchy slogan for my online store.

I sell new and pre-owned, name brand Clothing for the entire family. Though most business is done on Ebay, it's also linked to my personal Facebook page where friends (and their friend's) are making purchases.
I have no intention of opening an actual business location. I stay quite busy where I am now and this feels comfortable. It seems though the time has come to draw the line between friends/Family/Business.

My store name is either
"Jenn's Reality"
OR
"Jenn's Jewel's"

'Jenn's Reality' has a sentimental value however, my MOST common problem has been people often confuse this with real estate.

"Jenn's Jewel's" has become a close second. Maybe the slogans offered for each with help me choose.

I sincerely appreciate your help and advice.

Most Respectfully,
Jenn

What if the real solution lies in a different name? Are you open to that?

The problem with the names you've chosen is that they don't tell what you do or what benefit your customers can expect. You are expecting your tagline to do all of that, while the name passes under the radar and is forgotten immediately by your target audience.

Do you really think your target audience cares whether this is "Jenn's" anything? Do they even know who or what Jenn is?

Let's start by understanding exactly who the primary target audience is, where they live, how they're going to find you, and what they'd need to know if they are going to click through to your website. THEN we can come up with a unique name and tagline (together) that will accomplish your objective.

There are a lot of personal-name stores on ebay that develop a following, so I would depart from mgoodman's advice slightly and say that if your store is distinct, then Jenn's "something" would be an acceptable branding position on ebay, particularly if you provide outstanding service and you let your customers connect with you in a personal way (prompt messaging, putting a greeting in your shipments, etc.). This doesn't rule out other terms, just to say that for ebay (and let's say Etsy), personal brands can work if you are very hands-on with your customers. Also, a personal brand distinguishes you from some of the giants selling on ebay, and many shoppers prefer that.

However, "Reality" is a problem because when you search for that term on ebay, you get realty responses, as you noted above. "Jewels" is a problem because you're not selling jewelry, but again if anyone searches for your name on ebay, they will be deluged with jewelry stores and your store won't show up. Also, jewelry is a very crowded, competitive space on ebay, so it would really penalize your business to be lost in all that unrelated traffic instead of connecting with true prospective customers in the clothing space.

With that as background, I suggest you choose a term that's less emotion and more descriptive -- by descriptive, I mean tells the customer specifically what you're offering. Here are some examples:

    Jenn's Hand-Picked Fashions
    Jenn's Affordable Family Wear
    Jenn's Family Friendly Clothes
    Jenn's Work and Play Clothes

You get the idea. Stay personal, but get way more specific, and avoid giving your store a name that could be mistaken for something else.

    Jenn's Reality-Clothing matters here
Jenn's Reality-Sorry Adam & Eve (could be considered too religious)

    Jenn's Jewels-Treasure for your skin
    Jenn's Jewels-Valuable clothing for cheap

I came up with a couple taglines to go with your existing Company Titles, because at the end of the day, it's your company, your idea. I have no idea if my taglines are even close to what you want. But maybe it'll get the ball rolling for you.

    Happy Business!
