Name For Blog/social Media

Posted by catvq on 125 Points
Hello everyone, I'm interested in starting a yoga lifestyle blog that will synchronize across different social media platforms (instagram, Facebook, twitter) and that will potentially turn into a yoga business somewhere down the line.

A little bit of background: I'm currently a first year graduate student pursuing a PhD in clinical psychology, I plan on working with trauma survivors as a psychologist (yoga therapy included) and I will be starting yoga teacher training in the summer.

I'd like the blog to cover topics such as health and wellness, psychology, and yoga. I also would like to incorporate principles from psychology into the name, if possible, that are related to mindfulness, stress reduction, yoga therapy, self-care, compassion, self-awareness, etc.

I've been toying around with Yogis Choice, but it's already taken on instagram and twitter although it is not trademarked. Thanks in advance for your responses!

One of the problems with trying to name something like a blog is that there is no concrete business objective, no way to tell what success looks like, and no clear description of your target audience.

That doesn't mean you don't deserve a good name, but rather that the name isn't likely to play much of a role in determining the success of your blog (however you will measure that). Without knowing the objective, it's hard for us marketers to address your challenge.

Any name for a blog depends on the niche or niches you'll be targeting.

What keywords and key phrases are the people who are most likely to land on your blog searching for?

What keywords could you then include in your proposed domain name?

What kind of ranking research have you carried out in terms of the sites you'll be competing against?

Which sites will you be ranking against and how well-established are those sites?

If the top 10 to top 20 sites for your chosen keywords are all ranked as having PR 5 or above, and if those sites also have large number sod quality, authority-based links linking IN to them, and if those sites are also far older than your proposed site and also registered with the Yahoo listing—those sites may well be extremely difficult to out rank in competitive searches.

Which sites will you link to in order to build your proposed site's credibility, authority, and presence?

As for your plan to "synchronize across different social media platforms", it's vitally important that you understand and accept one critical point: for most blog owners and website administrators, social media is a waste of time and effort. You need to be spending 80 percent of your time actively marketing and promoting your site, with the remaining 20 percent spent on content creation.

Because likes, shares, comments, and follows in no way add to your bottom line or to the size of your mailing list, you need to focus on building your subscriber list by offering persuasion-based content that people can't wait to get their hands on. That's where the growth potential lies, NOT in being hip and cool on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
