Need Help With Tagline

Posted by llj11 on 250 Points
I run a handmade jewelry line and design all the products myself (it has a very rustic, bohemian vibe to it) and my target demographic is women age 35 to 50 with the primary focus on women in their 40s. I am desperately trying to come up with a tagline to convey independence/empowerment making women feel they are worth the purchase or deserving of the purchase and I like the whole idea of "your style your way" however that is horribly overused so I need options similar to these ideas (I create pieces that can be customized according to a woman's style preferences) - please help because I'm pulling my hair out on this one

What's the name of your company or jewelry line?
Any imagery that you could offer than might inspire the tagline process?
  • Posted by llj11 on Author
The name of the company is Marilee Yours. I'm not sure how to attach imagery but i can provide a link to my site where you can find examples of what I do - please ignore current verbiage because I do not like anything that I have up there in the way of marketing speak www.MarileeYours.com

    Express your taste with finesse

They will want what you have...

Wear it like you mean it

The tagline you have on your site is good. I don't know why you don't use it. It's sassy and your jewelry is as well.

Thanks for the responses so far!
J Weiss - out of curiosity which tagline were you referring to that you liked?

I clicked on your link and Stay Wild at Heart was on the top of page with girl on VW Bug. Is that not yours?
  • Posted by llj11 on Author
Yes that's mine! I just have so many different buzzwords on the page that I wasn't sure which one you were referring to because I keep playing with ideas ; )

I read your copy and it's really good but you do have a lot of buzzwords. Maybe pare it down because people really don't read more than a few lines. I would seriously cut it in half. Tell me what you do and why in 3 sentences. Use some buzzwords and I love the" Think outside the jewelry box" text, That to me should be your tagline.

I love the think outside the jewelry box too and I thought I was so original on it but when I started googling it I noticed other people have been using it so I wanted something a little more one of a kind. When you said to pair down the verbiage were you referring to the product descriptions or the copy on the front page?

It sounds like you have taken the time to research things Good!.I love the image of the car with the young girl and your signature and the tagline you have already. But if you are wanting the demographic to be 30s-40s maybe have an older woman in there somewhere if possible. I'm a photographer as well as marketing professional so I enjoy seeing a fun image.

It's hard to be original in our social media world! The copy on top is good and there are a lot of descriptive words. I like them but maybe you could cut a few of them out to shorten your message. Maybe pick out the most important ones that describe your product. This is only a suggestion. I hope it helps. Good luck!

p,s, I think there may be a tagline in your top copy! Just read it with that in mind.

You raise some great points and I'm thrilled you love the image on the front page! My partner and I disagreed on the picture and I told her just to try it because it is the overall vibe of our jewelry but to your point of adding some more mature women in the imagery I think that's a great idea and we've been talking about doing that with our product shots. ; )

Great! I think if you want to reach people my age who have disposable income to spend on quality jewelry, you should show an older, claasy woman who is a lot like the girl in the image but not trying to look like she's 20. When I first saw your site I saw a young girl and didn't realize you wanted to shoot for older demographic. It would be awesome if you could have the woman in the image as well. It's the first impression that catches the eye. btw, I may be checking out your items for my own use! :) Sorry I got off task of tagline. lol

Too funny I am always grateful for new customers because I'm still trying to grow my business! You raise a great point about the front shot though - I too am in my late 40s but don't feel my age that's for sure so I think I may be trying to find a "wild and young at heart" more mature model for our front image - thank you so much for all the feedback it is extremely helpful.

If you look at the about us page you will see my partner Julie and I and you will see that we understand our demographic because we are our own demographic ; )
