Name To Set Me Apart From Other Virtual Assts

Posted by jane on 250 Points
I'm just starting out as a virtual assist and I know there is quite a bit of competition.
I'm having trouble coming up with a name that sets me apart.
I mostly do graphics, pinterest, transcription, social media but can be a girl friday too. Virtual asst is so overused but I need something that will be good for SEO....HELP!

A tagline would be great too!

What unique benefit can a client expect if they hire you as a virtual assistant? It's not the name (or tagline) that will set you apart in a meaningful way, but rather the unique service you deliver or the unique benefit a client will experience. Once you identify what that is the name/tagline can communicate it.

Consider starting with a narrow focus -- a particular service, or an industry specialty, or narrow geography, etc. If that's successful you can always expand. But it will cost money to create awareness, so keep your targets within reach up-front. (If you can get a 10% conversion rate in one city, that's better than a 1% conversion rate in 10 cities. Initial cost will be lower, and whatever you did to get the 10% can be expanded to other cities/industries.)

I want to focus on helping bloggers with graphics, social media etc. I am insightful and am able to identify concepts quite quickly. I think turnaround time would be my most appreciated benefit. I am flexible and can manage tasks fast!

    The Blog Whisperer
    Better Blogging
    Blog Assistant
    Blog Booster

Tagline: Make the most of your post

Just from what you said, I think fast "turnaround time" and fast grasp of concepts are not benefits, but features. The benefit is improving a blog post's effectiveness. If you don't do that, doing something else quickly won't help.

So I would focus on how you make blog posts better. Once that foot is in the door, you can certainly present your other capabilities.

I'd rather not have it focused solely on blogging as I'd like to grow into doing other things....
Is there more of a Virtual Assistant name that could be more generalized

Who is the primary target audience? Where? What unique and compelling benefit can they expect if they hire you? How are they going to learn you exist?

The more specific you can be, the better able we will be to suggest a good name/tagline.

My primary people to start will be bloggers but I'd like to grow into a company that does all kinds of VA stuff....a "girl friday"
Graphics are my "thing" so anyone who needs help with social media, graphics, flyers, non profits VA's are used for quite a lot of "tasks"
I don't want to make it SO focused that I can't add more services...
Customer service can be done by VA's, appt setting, data entry...

I'd also consider communicating the time-saving benefit of your service - "We grow your profile while you grow your business". Something like that as a value proposition suggests that the business owner can focus on their core business without worrying about the other stuff.

As for a name, Digital VA communicates your role and speciality, or if you are looking for something very left, how about COSTNER - Your Online Bodyguard.

    Best of luck.

Do you have an idea for what the first paragraph of your marketing (whether it be a flyer or website) is going to say to let people know what you offer? Perhaps that'll help us to narrow down a name that fits your thinking/approach.

The more general the name, the less it will set you apart from other virtual assistants. If you decide to go in a different direction in a few years, you can start another company with another name. Give yourself the best shot at getting noticed up-front with a clear and specific benefit promise in the name/tagline.
