A Hook

Posted by vickirobertslmt on 250 Points
I'm a massage therapist of 2 years and my focus is on Therapeutic massage. While trying to come up with a professional "yet" witty hook, to be remembered it seems difficulty in this field. I meet weekly with a group of about 50 members of a Networking group and I'm trying to make them remember me!

I really could use some assistance and would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Vicki

While I know networking groups are focused on witty hooks, how many of your fellow members' hooks do you remember?

Instead, I suggest that you gather very brief stories of people whose lives you've changed because of your massage. People who can be active, dance again, headache-free, etc. People may relate to those you've helped more than witticisms.

Like Jay, I'm not a big fan of "witty hooks." People remember those who can solve a big problem for them, or deliver a benefit nobody else can deliver. Start by identifying your primary target audience and their most important unmet need. Then give a short anecdote that demonstrates in a compelling way how you were able to deliver a solution to that unmet need.

If you do that people will remember you -- better than if you had a "witty hook."

There is no need to be witty. Simply use your name and a geo-modifier, and tell people what you do.

I was in one of those networking groups once. I skipped the tagline. People enjoyed the funny ones but it never brought them more biz.
I was successful telling a succinct story (as aforementioned" and starting off my infomercial with "Did you know......." and offered a fact about my business. That seemed to be memorable for people.
