Brand Development Apply In Product Development ??

As I know what is brand developement and product development respectively ... but when talking about how to put them together has confused me ? How can a brand development can be applied into the product development? I confused :(

Second, as what i've learnt, in order to be successful in brand creation, the advertisement must be relevant + engaging + motivating, which also cover a requirement that the brand must listen to it's customers as well as communicating messages that cover relevant + engaging + motivating, those 3 factors. Are there anything more to be concerned ? What about the customer ? The product?
