Library Grand Opening Ideas

Posted by jsheehan on 125 Points
Have an upcoming opening ceremony celebration for a $80 million state of the art advanced library and learning centre. Need something that will reflect the new technology of the library (visualization walls, 360 projector room, maker spaces, etc...) and the tradition uses of the library. This will also be a photo opportunity for local elected officials as well as a major community donor.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Might you show an evolution of libraries from a book repository (or even going back to manuscripts), to audio/visual collections, ebooks, and now digital resources? What about an art show/contest using library materials as building blocks (library cards, books, CDs/DVDs, etc.)? What about showing how such new technology has been used successfully in other regions to solve thorny civic problems?
