In the States, instead of calling it distance learning, we call it online. If you search on this term instead, you will find a bunch of articles talking about the pros and cons of in class versus online. Here are some examples:

On the whole, if the online school you go to is accredited, the education you gain should be as good as an in-class school.

One con they don"t bring up is the lack of face to face interaction with other students. You don't get as much benefit of networking with other students as you would in a F2F class.
