In Need Of A Catchy Tagline

Posted by mkirby on 250 Points
We are an all female private practice OBGYN clinic. We are in the process of changing our marketing strategy and I am in need of a good tagline that we can utilize. I have a hand full but not sure they are hitting the mark. Examples:

Medical Excellence. Compassionate Care

For the expected, unexpected and everything in between

We’re just better at making you feel better

Why do you feel you need a tagline? Are you concerned that "Great Plains Women's Health Center" is not clear enough for your target audience? What else would you want to communicate with the tagline?

How are you different from, and better than, your competition? What taglines are they using? Why should a woman select your practice instead of a competitor's practice?

How will you select the tagline if we come up with a half-dozen candidates? What criteria will you use? If we understand the criteria we are much more likely to come up with a "winner" that meets your expectations. Otherwise we are just shooting in the dark.

Finally, as to the request for a "catchy" tagline, from a marketing standpoint "catchy" suggests that you don't really have anything important you want to communicate. Instead you want to distract your prospects from considering the benefit they will realize by entertaining or amusing them with some "catchy" phrase or pun. (Better to go for "relevant, meaningful or compelling" rather than "catchy.")

We can suggest some on-strategy taglines if you will give us more input (by addressing the questions/issues above).

If you must have a tag line, go with the following variation:

"For the expected, the unexpected, and everything in between"

Note the use of the extra 'the' and the serial comma.

While Michael Goodman has addressed the principles you need to consider, there are a couple of other angles where you could provide some leads for us to consider.

Is there some identifiable skill or experience across your doctors that you would like to highlight in your promotional activities; perhaps because other medical practices do not provide the service at the level of your expertise?

Is there some specific service that you provide that makes you distinctive in comparison with competitors?

What is the most prevalent condition you see in ladies reproductive health or matters related thereto that is evident across your patients? Should this be a point of focus?

Do you do home visits and other out-of-business hours services?

I am simply asking you to try and identify matters or issues within the skills & experience of your medical team that is available to patients that may be the focus for an effective tagline or for later use in your wider promotional activities.

Your answers/responses to the above will likely help greatly.
    In the meantime-
"For the expected, the unexpected, and the expecting."
"Expert medical care for the expected, the unexpected, and the expecting."

Just a follow up. the tagline suggestions proposed by my colleagues seem to be focused on pregnancy. However, I am of the view that your medical practice will be addressing a much wider inventory of medical issues than pre-natal or post-natal care. That is the purpose of the questions I posed earlier.

But given the significance of pregnancy generally, will your medical practice be providing for various techniques in birthing; along with associated midwifery services?.
