Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Want to create a self-sustaining testimonial generation campaign for a cool software product. Thinking about incenting either sales or customer themselves to provide them. Any best practices?

I'm clear about what you mean about generating testimonials virally but, I suspect you mean your customers sharing their experiences without you asking them to.

Have thought of having a blog where they can post their comments and ideas about the software.

The other option is to have a mailing group probably a yahoo group for the software where questions and comments can be freely shared among members and allowing them to advice each other on whatever problems they may be experiencing as they use the software.

The other idea is to ask any of your customer to be the other ones responding to new users and potential customer queries. I saw it working for a certain software. I sent a query on the working of the software. I got a response from an actual user of the product. Give your customers some good reason to do it probably incentives.

The best example in the world is the new browser, "FireFox".

Go to Get Firefox! and read the stories. It is EXACTLY what you are trying to do.

    Good Luck!
