Citing References From Marktingprofs

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
What are the terms and conditions for supplying knowledge for use in Post Graduate and Master's dissertations by South African Marketing students?

As an academic librarian, I always make people aware of the Copyright Act and the implications of infringements but would like to know how our students
should correctly cite refences quoted on this site.

We use the Harvard system for dissertations is this okay? Does anyone have a style guide that would show me how to cite discussions etc. of this wonderful website?

Good question. I don't know what the standard/process is, but I would think that you'd be safest if you had the name and company affiliation of the contributor and the name of the site/forum. I'll be interested to see what others suggest.

    Monique,

I believe the latest version (15th) of the The Chicago Manual of Style covers digital citations very well.

Short of that, you can do as mgoodman states and it would also be helpful to cut and paste the answer url or just add the question ID which is at the end of every url.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you for your guidance - I am going to go with the Chicago Style Manual (15th edition.) & the Harvard Style Manual where I found the answer:

    For WWW:

Author/editor. (Last update or copyright date), Title, [Online], Publisher. Available from: [Date of access].

    Article from an online database
    Format:
Author(s). Year of Publication, ‘Article title’, Journal Title, [Online], volume, issue, article pages. Available from: Supplier/Database name. [Date of access].
