Who Are The Best Marketing Headhunters?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I just entered the job pool again, and have been in marketing/advertsing for the last 10 years. Although, I am not yet executive level, I would consider myself to be senior manager or supervisor level material. I am located in NYC and I cannot find a decent marketing headhunter who serves my level. Yes, there are many executive search firms out there catering to CEO, CMO and VP level seekers, but alas I have not found any for middle management. Specifically, I am looking for brand manager, marketing specialist or marketing director-type positions. Please, if you can refer me to the right headhunter, I will be eternally grateful.

    Cortez42,

I do not know any marketing headhunters specifically but to tell you the truth my Godfather one of the top motivational speakers in America and a multmillionaire (Brian Tracy) has an excellent tape series that I listened to a few dozen times.

SEEK OUT THE COMPANIES YOU WANT TO WORK FOR...
Brian believes that the best way to get hired is to examine first the companies in your city that you would like to work for.

INTERVIEW THE HEADS OF THESE COMPANIES...
Once you get that list then go out and interview the top people of these companies and ask them the kinds of questions that every great leader appreciates hearing. Questions like how did you get to the top? What are the most important attributes you have that you believe made you successful? Then eventually get to this question...what does it take to get a brand manager, marketing specialist or marketing director-type position in your company?

IF YOU'VE BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY FOR 10 YEARS USE...
the contacts and relationships that you currently have developed over this time frame. Right now you're just like the company that keeps searching outside of itself to find the key ingredients to growing their company. Cortez in 10 years I would have to believe that you have excellent friends, contacts and relationships with people who care about you and would love to help you if you only asked them for their input. Right now you're sitting on "Acres of Diamonds" and their right under your feet.

USE THE POWER OF REFERALS AND PERSONAL CONTACTS...
Birds of a feather do flock together. Take advantage of the power of referal leads. Since my first job I've always found my last 6 jobs through friends, family and referals. The experts say most of the best jobs are never advertised or passed on to head hunters but they are referred and recommended by friends. You go for it! If I hear about a headhunter in marketing I'll write back. Thanks. Is there anything else I can do for you?
