Logo Creation

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Home repair and maintenance company needs a logo.
Reply with a visual description and colors.
We are a growing company performing small home repair and maintenance services. The key to the business is our customer service program which incorporates the same attitude as building luxury homes
and dealing with demanding clients.
Our references are impeccable and our work is the best.
There are many franchised "handyman" companies with logos depicting a cartoon character carrying a toolbox.
That is not our image. Anyone can be a handyman doing odd jobs. In fact, I'm going to eliminate the word handyman from all company literature.
The company name is Home Repairs Rx and should be incorporated with the logo.
I need a fresh approach and some good ideas.

You're looking for a graphic. This forum mostly deals with copy, taglines, and names. However, as I'm also a graphic designer, I'm "seeing" a building contractor with a hardhat and a lab coat, clipboard in hand; line art, not cartoony; your company name on both hat and coat. Keep it monochromatic and sizeable, simple and classy. If you'd like a mockup, let me know.

I think you'll stand out more if you don't have a cheesy line-art logo. It seems that everyone in your business has rushed to the line-art approach.

Instead, I'd have a professional graphic designer create a logo using a distinctive type font, colors, and perhaps a geometric shape of some kind that will serve as an appropriate mnemonic.

You may also be able to use color/layout as a source of distinctiveness.

I think this is likely to be a more fruitful approach than trying to draw a picture of what you do.

P.S. If you are interested, I can put you in touch with the person I've used for projects that involve graphic design and logo creation. He's a recently retired creative director at a large New York advertising agency, and he is brilliant when it comes to this sort of thing. (Strictly optional, of course.)

I just tried the email address and it seems to be working fine. Did you get your message back as undeliverable? Please try again. I'll be glad to make the introduction.

Put "MarketingProfs" in the subject line, just in case it's being filtered. I checked the "spam folder" and didn't see anything there.

If all else fails, I'll find a way to get the address into a message here.
