Comments On Ibooks

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
My company has been receiving a lot of xxxx for ibooks (.exe files).

Does anyone have background and comments? Costly? Effective? Limitations? (for example, many of our website visitors still have problems with pdf files - I think an .exe file will be more confusing).

I find it hard to believe that anyone would click a link to an .exe file. That just seems like playing Russian Roulette nowadays.

I know nothing about ibooks. Is this how they are delivered?

Sorry, they're called ibrochures. One site is offering them as executable files but I did find another that offers pdf.

I still don't "get" why they are so different.

Let me clarify. I know what exe and pdf files are.

I'm unsure what ibrochures are and am seeking comments on value, usage, limitations, format and accessability.

You can put 3d views into macromedia "flash paper" (i think) it is just like a PDF but has more flexibility and smaller files sizes.

You can include video in PDF , but acrobat 7 pro costs a ton of money.

You might as well just put it in to a flash presentation most people have flash installed. If you get www.openoffice.org you can make flash for free!!! It can turn power point presentations in to flash.

    Thank you to everyone.

A marketing agency is billing the ibrochure as accessible through web, email, CD.

Reviewing responses - I do not think this is a good medium for us at this time. We already create our own .exe for CDs; flash for web; and do not use our email lists for distributing literature. (We're a small medical company).
