How To Advertise My Website Effectively?

In my class project, I have developed a website that allow the community to barter/sell/buy stuffs. Recently I decided to apply for a domain name called www.BarterPalace.com because I think it is a good package that the communities can benefit from it. I put it live two weeks ago.

I don't want to spend a lot of money to advertise it since I am not using it to run for profit. I just want to put the software in good use.

What is the best strategies that I can use so that the communities members can benefit from it? Sound impossible???
