    an example that was used in a country that has very low literacy levels.

    a pharmaceutical company(i cant remember there name) producing a brand of painkillers belived that the product benfit could be demonstrated most easliy by showing three pictures, a presonfeeling sick, taking the medication, and then feeling visibly better. the product launch was disastrous in all countries of North Africa. There, people reading in Arabic read from the right to the left (not from left to right) and consequently saw on the label a happy person taking the medication and feeling quite miserable as a result.
