Fmcg Marketers Challenges In India

Hi,
I am doing a project with a firm which is considering an entry into the FMCG sector in India. I wanted to know what are the chalenges that we might face as an FMCG company in Indian markets. I do not mean challenges frm our competitors cause that is an obvious challenge. I would like to know more about challenges in the market itself.

    From what I understand, some of the world's largest FMCGs are struggling to compete with local brands. Even at equivilent pricing.

    This seems to suggest a strong sense of loyalty and/or emotional connection to the local brands. Availability is a concern as well...being able to reach even the most remote village is an absolute must.

    Therefore, in short, I would have to say the primary issues to consider and focus on in your area are brand image/loyalty, community awareness, and distribution. Create a strong emotional connection, price competitively, and establish depedable distribution channels and you have a good chance of hanging in and/or beating out some of the worlds largest FMCG companies in India today.
