Led Sign Ideas - Auto Repair

My client is 29-year veteran in auto repair and in a great location. Right now he simply puts products on his LED board (red color on black only)..."Front-End, Brakes" or things like "If you're heater is broken, we can fix it" + time and temp. He wants to increase traffic from the sign and wants some more effective use of his LED.

He is near a traffic light, so there is often people stopped nearby but other than that, it is on a major road where people normally are traveling 45-55mph (possbly 5-10 seconds max reading one side).

He says he has tried to put promotions ($35 State Inspection or $19.95 oil change) but he didn't notice much traffic increase.

Without being too comical (he's not a real creative type)...any ideas on some things that might draw customers to view the sign?

    Thanks Michael - clever thoughts!

    WMMA - Great ideas....the "Drive Safely" made me think of intentionally punning or misspelling "Drive Safety" (possibly thinking a "misspelled" word on a sign would attract attention!) - what did you mean on zipcodes? That wasn't clear....

    Whatever you do to the sign, create a postcard or door hanger campaign in the neighborhood. It will reinforce the signage when they see it a 2nd, 3rd or more time. Then mail reminders that its time for oil change, inspection etc -- again, keeping the same theme.

    Thanks Carol - I think it's a good idea - but haven't convinced the owner to spend more money...he thinks the sign is HIS best tool.

    On the line of Michael's thinking. I like the idea of having a variety of funny puns that would have to do with auto services. And over time, people would be watching for the next new one.

    Example:. If they do radiator repair, the sign could say "A good place to take a leak."

    Funny stuff! I like that idea...not sure the client's view of puns, but I think they create a buzz for people who drive that road every single day...more than just the same ol' thing....and the anticipation of the next week's pun might generate alot more interest than he's got now.

    I would love to keep this open until close of day on FRIDAY 1/11....more ideas?? This has been helpful, but I am still looking for some real winners.....
