    hi

Years ago I was in the billboard business and short copy always drove all creative. So your idea of name and tagline is on point.

I’m thinking that you could create a ad style headline instead of a tagline and add a strong graphic.

For headline, what will get your targets attention in a sensory emotional way. One approach is the new carpet smell in a home. New carpets look and smell great, and make the home seem like new again.

    so ..

AHHH, That New Carpet Smell (graphic showing attractive woman smelling new carpet)

    (name)
    (number)

    hope this helps,

my partner came up with get laid by the best, but i feel that might offend most people even though it would create a lot of buzz, another one of his ideas was the tagline to have something including a joke towards the recession, yeah steve i see where your going with the headline instead of the tagline, and phil thanks for the info the more the better thanks again

Another visual suggestion. Imagine taking a photo from beneath the new floor upwards. The flooring itself would be semi-transparent, and you'd be looking up at people (a party? a family?) standing on the flooring (no upskirting, though). The unusual angle, will capture the eyes.

The copy could be simply: "We Support Your Flooring Choice" or "Beautiful Homes From The Ground Up".

Ah, the rare situation where a good carpeting wordplay really IS all you're looking for!

    Interesting/dramatic visual, of course, plus:

"NOT just another one for the pile."

    Looking down is looking up!

The best floor show in NYC!

    Overwhelming underfoot!

    What a putdown!

You'll have them rolling on the floor!

    Carpet bombing?
    (Replace it with something better!)

Phil has a point. And even if a chemical reaction problem only exists for a very small percentage of your target audience, it shouldn’t be overlooked. But you already know this ... you’re in the carpet business.

I was really speaking to the concept of using “sensory emotional” elements rather than the specific example of new carpet scent (not the best choice to show graphically). You could show an "elephant standing on carpet" or "people riding magic flying carpet" or some other bold attention getting graphic. It might work. But it would be better to show a wow factor expressing the feeling of opening the front door and seeing new carpet.

Real estate agents have known for years that this emotional experience helps sell homes. If you can find the right image to fill a large enough billboard, the wow factor should help bring business in the door.

    hope this helps,

    Steve
