Sony Mp3 Walkman Vs Ipod

Hi can anyone please give me some ideas on how sony walkman can improve its advertising and try and compete with the impact ipod has made on its advertising eg colourful background and dark silhouetted character etc. any views on improving sony's advertising strategy

    Work the Sony brand to the boomers; it's a name that is well known to that generation. The older part of this boomer group is not as technically-mature as the younger group is. Spruce it up, make it super simple to use and manipulate; offer comfortable head/ear gear (ears are one of the first to go, you know!). Promote and advertise it to this generation and it's grandchildren (who are growing up in an IPod world). Get the youngsters familiar with the Sony name via Grandma and Grandpa's implicit endorsement.

    Quite a challenge, but hey, as Winston Churchill once said, "Never, never, never quit."
