Email Collection Disclaimer

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Hi all,

We've signed a deal with someone who's requesting that we will add a disclaimer when offering the user to register for our newsletter.

Can anyone send me such a disclaimer?
I'm sure that there is some default saying that you will not sell or share the user's email to any third party company, you will only send him x/y/z...

I can't find anything online.
Can anyone please help?

Ran: I know quite a few folks in the email marketing privacy/deliverability space. Give me a few days and I'll see what I can dig up.

Ran: More detail, directly from my friend/colleague Dennis Dayman:

Well there are a few ways to do this. One is by a privacy policy and the other is by adding in a few quick bullet points on the sign-up form for the user to quickly parse. i.e. By submitting this form you will be added to our newsletter and can unsubscribe from within that. or better yet, by filling out this form you will receive an invite email to join our email list and only will be added if you opt-in from within that welcome email.

Tips for optimizing your privacy policy:
    *Write it for consumers
    *Keep it short
*Index it or give it headers so people can find what they want quickly
*Audit the policy at least once a year (and have non-lawyers also read it for clarity)
*Link out to relevant sections of your policy to "contact us" features so readers with questions can get answers
*Inform customers about policy changes, but be sure to do so before the changes go public and give people a chance to change preferences prior to launch
*Highlight the policy throughout the site
