Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Has anybody got any unusual ideas for a name and tagline for a boxing club re-launch, who is also going to launch martial arts for the first time.

We'll need a lot more to go on to help you, Kathy. For example:
    - where are you located?
    - what's the story with the re-launch? What happened (or didn't)?
    - what type of boxing club?
    - appealing to what type of person?
    - what types of martial arts?
    - what will make your club the better choice for people in your area?
    - what's the bigger picture for this - besides a name/tagline? How will you market this in your community?

Apologies answers as far as possible as follows:

    Location: Tamworth, Midlands UK

Re-launch: due to desire to expand training sessions and obtain new home base for the club. They are successful e.g worked with Imar Khan and frank Bruno amongst others, but wish to increase membership, and produce matches as well as shows/events (charity based)

Type of Club: Semi-pro boxing club, looking to introduce martial arts and also done thump boxing

Type of martial arts - Taekwondo mainly but maybe others

Better club - it will be the only boxing etc club in the area as the other club is closing down, so benefit for the club on that count. They also can train for all ages and I have already said about working with local school and groups to increase membership and sponsorship prospects. They train to a high level with qualified coaches and have won a number of national titles and worked with well known people form within the business

the bigger picture: growth in membership, wider ranging national recognition. Marketing will be via various methods, just writing the plan e.g. sponsorship, PR/Media, Advertising; Networking; Events/Displays (including non sport shows with celebrity acts); communication recognition as a worthwhile cause; Celebrity back-up; E-communications, Digital/SMM.

Hope this helps if you need anything else do let me know

many thanks for coming back to me!

    Hi Folks

I have another question for you all for a meeting I have on Tuesday with a local sports facility called the Snowdome, which has obviously a ski slope, multi-gym, pool, boxing gym, exercise classes, spinning etc etc and catering and wedding venue facilities plus live entertainment.

they have been approached before about taking on a boxing club to train there but have always been against it as they say it does not sit well with them and they are not into aggressive sports. Plus they have a ladies boxercise class which uses the gym with the training ring in it, and believe that they ladies would not welcome seeing guys in the ring in a proper fighting situation. It is the same with martial arts they said no to that as well!

One of the partners is prepared to see us Tues afternoon though and wa really nice on the phone. I asked about 1-off events, training there e.g. hire the facilities etc. has anybody got any thoughts on how we can show them the benefits of helping a club to run from their venue???? The club now has no training facilities and badly need funding to get some, but this could be a good option - ANY THOUGHTS AT ALL GRATEFULLY RECEIVED ASAP!

    many thanks
    Kathy
