How Do I Get Advertisers For New Niche Magazine

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have begun work on a new niche/youth magazine. It's motto is 'rebellious, sarcastic, hypocritical, ironic'! It is aimed at male youths aged 17-25. It has an urban underground feel, with articles including extreme sports, drift racing, dirt bikes, light, informative articles etc. Its initial distribution numbers will be 5000 nationally through newsagencies.

My question is, how do I find advertisers to advertise in my magazine. Do you have any other suggestions about how to market to possible advertisers?

    Lauren,
You must show value to the advertisers. For this demographic, it's pretty easy to find local advertisers as you've listed above.

I would be a little concerned, as an advertiser, that national distribution is 5000 especially in light of the total number of males youths 17-25.

Might want to try something local to start. Concentric marketing usually works pretty well.

I would suggest you start to do some scouting by looking at different magazines and see who advertise in them. You can contact those businesses and offer them advertising opportunity in your magazine. Also bear in mind that you are new to the market so you have to have a catch for advertisers. What will be their benefit to advertise in your magazine than others? What are your offerings to them? You have to be prepared to do some leg work but your goal is achievable.

    Good luck with your campaign.
