Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Folks,

For those who've done any recent hiring for Marcom mid-level to senior level staff, what are the key search words and terms you looked for?

Thanks!

I can think of some off the top of my head (like "good communication skills"), but instead I would go and take a look at a half dozen or so job ads for positions of interest to you and look to see what words are commonly used.

Don't forget to include words that show the industry you have worked with (company names, product names, etc.), show what specific programs you know how to use (Quark, Pagemaker, etc.), variations on titles that you have worked in (MarCom, marketing communications, marketing programs, etc.) and geographic area that you want to work in.

One trick I have been using is to have a keyword section at the end of my resume. I list the words of interest in categories. Because it is ugly, I make it disappear. I then highlight the entire keywords section and change the font color to white (so it is not displayed on screen or printed).
