Hello,

I recently had the task of redesigning my company's website. It's now live and almost to the point where I want it to be. I'm hoping to get some unbiased feedback on the site that will help me make it "perfect". I have some changes in mind that I think will help, but would love to know what others think. Thanks so much!

    I like it. Basically, the site is laid out very nicely, the colors reflect class and distinction.. everything is as it should be.
    Here are a couple of points to ponder as you take it into the future.
    1) the sections that will bring a person back more than once are the news/events and Medawar Moments. I suggest you put all kinds of "cool stuff" into these. Cool stuff would equal - pictures of the prom queen with your necklace on, - brides with your engagement rings, 25th anniversaries, etc. These have to be updated ALL THE TIME (at least weekly).
    2) What are you going to do to get people to go to these spots? I suggest some kind of message saying check out the cool stuff in these areas.
    3) If my father and grand father before him were in the business, I would include a section on them. Pictures, history, etc. This gives you an opportunity to talk values. I perceive values to be important to your company.

    Overall the site is very appealing. Good selection of photos. I have a few recommendations.

    I had the same java problem with your navigation. You will want to make sure you fix this issue.

    You have some excellent information on your home page but after you leave the home page there is no way to get back to it. (People will not know to click your logo) You need a Home button on the top navigation area.

    For a site like this testimonials are important but people will not search your website for a testimonial page. You need add some testimonials to the different pages.

    On the What is Your Birthstone Page, why not link back to the Gemstones page so that people can read more about their particular birthstone. I thought your Gemstones page was very informative.

    I did not like the font that you chose for the drop down menus. It was hard to read.

    I would consider moving Services the left side navigation. This is important information. Most will use the left side navigation first.

    If you are going to have information on this month's birthstone on your home page, make sure you keep it updated.

    Overall you did a good job. The site is visually appealing and that is important for your type of business.

    Wow-thank you guys so much. I really appreciate you all taking the time out to review and give such great feedback. There were some things that I had caught as well and already have on my list, but still some things I hadn't even considered. Looks like I have more work cut out for me! I'm going to have to spend some time this afternoon reviewing it all and will probably contact some of you individually with some follow up questions.
