New Search Software Tool Needs Quick Distribution

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
I am working with a client that offers a unique approach to Internet search by understanding the context of what the user is doing, automatically searching blogs, web, news sources, and more -- and then delivers the results in a sidebar - without launching a browser.

This software is marketed for free and we have used paid search, network banner advertising, and download site marketing for primary awareness-building.

It is a slow build, so far and I'm looking for some more guerrilla tactics to up distribution and installs through viral and other methods . . . any ideas . . . experiences with this?

Mike, I'd like to help, but I'd need to take a look at the software before I give you advice.

Try posting it on this site, www.wincustomize.com (12 million unique hits per month), also look at other "skinning" sites to post it on. Like:

    www.skinbase.org
    www.skinning.net
    www.skinz.org

You could also get reviews on podcasts like www.undertheskin.net or some other poweruser type podcasts.

Also try getting it listed on sites like www.softpedia.com/ as "Spyware free".

It had better NOT have spyware in it.

Excellent input all -- Navigate here to download the product and to offer additional advisement . . . www.intellext.com . . . This is a free download and does not log search history or set cookies.

I look forward to your input.

    Hi,

I think you can also go for e-mail marketing which is one of the most effective means of communications to market the product and you can also add some referral program with some incentive.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

We have done a bunch of PR which definitely has proven a great method to generate brand awareness and downloads.

I will definitely focus on getting reviews from tech bloggers and will try to drum up some additional information and awareness that way.

The education channel was a right-on-the-money answer . . . early adopters, free product, research tool.

I have also found an excellent affiliate program that is much more affordable than the CJs and LinkShares of the world . . . They're called Link Connector.

    Again, thanks for your assistance!
