Google Seo Churn

Posted by dschulenberg on 250 Points
Just wanted some confirmation (or vice versa) that others have seen their Google rankings and organic referrals bounce back from this spring's Big Daddy algorithm changes. What insights have we as an online community learned in the process given our lack of direct insight into Google's code. I am only seeking ethical approaches to the topic - nothing shady please.

    Hi dschulenberg,

Generally all of our customers are seeing comparable or better organic rankings post Big Daddy as they were prior to.

What have we learned? Same things we learn everytime they change algorithms; can't give specifics (proprietary methodology) but suffice it to say that optimzation techniques that are ethical, with spider friendly layouts and source code, relevant content, keywords/density, Google sitemap and full optimization of main level pages are some of the key tactics.

Most important is a conscientious and well-planned inbound link program.

For new sites we can still expect to wait up to 90 days. There are ways to accelerate this and get your way out of the "sandbox" early for good behavior (i.e. inbound links), but no doubt about it, for new sites you gotta expect to wait for organic optimization efforts to kick in.

    Nice question!

It seems that inbound links from "less quality" sites now kill pagerank, but definitely quality inbound links, solid keyword and description meta tags seem to have more impact. Also, spider friendly layouts make a big difference. Now that things seem to have balanced out, for those of us who "follow the rules" Google is much more friendly to our pages.

    Hi dschulenberg,

Hope you're having a great day!

I've noticed some adjustments to page rankings but nothing significant. My numbers in the beginning fell slightly but they have recovered ever so slowly. It still appears for me that content has had more overall benefits than links. Remember there are no real problems only a failure to be more creative than we ever have been. If you invent your opportunity you'll create your future. Is there anything else I can do for you?

I haven't noticed much difference with any of my clients.
I would agree wth Pepper Blue, just stick to ethical SEO, provide great content and get plenty of links to your site, and your ranking will get better.

    Good Luck
