Marketing Firm Start-up

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am considering opening my own marketing / communications firm. Does anyone have any advice? One thing I'm unsure of is how to price my services. Does anyone know of a good basis to use when pricing such services?
Thank you.

    Hi mail,

    I hope you're having a great day!

this is a very difficult question to answer given the fact that you have not described who your target customer is. If you are targeting small business, mid size businesses, Fortune 500 or Fortune 100 types it really all depends.

I can give you only one rule of thumb that will not hurt you at this level of brainstorming. There are two basic ways to consider your pricing...one is by the hour the other is by the project. But as I have stated above we need to have some idea of who you plan on target marketing? Who are the type of customer and what are the type of service/products you plan on selling? These things will all have an effect on what price range you will have to choose. Also have you put together a business plan for this new business? Understanding the plan of the business flushes out the market you are shooting for and the level of service you plan on delivering. All of these things will force you to have to set your prices at a certain level. Do you have a business plan yet? or are you just contemplating for right now. Please let us know where you are at...Remember our only real problem in life is our failure to be "MORE Creative" than we’ve ever been. If you “Invent” your opportunity YOU WILL most definitely create your future. Just know that I'm here for you if you need my help. Is there anything else I can do for you?

    Hi Mail,

NO CAPTIAN LEAVES PORT WITHOUT A...

IT'S RIGHT ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE...

    YEAH that's it! P-L-A-N.

Starting without a business plan is like the captian of a great ship getting on the sea without a compass and a map. Even the most feerless explores of our times would not do this. So why should you? You shouldn't! Not knowing where you're going and often not knowing where you are at will bring immediate fear quicker than anything I know of. And it is the "FEAR of FAILURE" & quite often the "FEAR of SUCCESS" that destroys more businesses world wide than any other fear that I know of. The compass and the map are the tools for locating where you are and how to get to where you want to go. So...

GREAT IDEAS & PASSION ALONE...are NOT ENOUGH!
Having a "Great Idea" is just not enough. Having "AMAZING PASSION" and ZEAL will eventually die down. But after the passion has died down and the zeal has all but dried up...you will be quite surprised that having a great Written plan for what you want to achieve will be a great source of motivation to get you where you want to be. Have a great day! You deserve it. You can achieve every dream if you only write them down, (continously adjust them to make them better plans), ponder them, observe them, think about them constantly and go after your dreams like a relentless maniac.
