10 Year Anniversary Ideas For A Bank

I am a Marketing Director for a local community bank in Boise, Idaho and we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary the whole month of October, 2006. I need some ideas on what we could do for this month that will draw customers to come in and open new accounts, because that is what we need right now. Please provide any ideas you might have. Our website is www.idahobankingco.com and if you look at the website you will see we are different from other banks in terms of our image. We are "the art of banking" and I always use terms like "Banking at its Finest" in ads and such.

    Consider "Bank with the Arts" - have days when you have singers, dancers in to perform. "Celebrate Ten Years of the Art of Banking by Banking with the Arts." Possible ties-ins: New accounts opened that day will have a percentage/fixed amount donated to that arts organization. New accounts opened during the month will receive tickets to their choice of the opera, the art museum, etc. (I don't know what you have there.) I like an earlier idea of commissioning an art piece - have postcards made of it and use them to mail invitations to your target prospect base. Ask the local high school / college etc. if they have speciality performance groups - jazz band, choir, you name it - and ask them to perform as well, not just pro arts organizations.

    Make it fun, yet totally classy - and you will be completely different from every other institution out there.

    Perhaps it is "Bank for the Arts" instead of "Bank with the Arts" - just another take on the theme.

    Well, unfortunately, I believe that you will have to through some money for the event (events usually eat a lot!)

    But let's look what is your main task? To attract as many local people as you can?

    I would organize a craft excibition with a banking keynote for local artists advertising this event with a print a post cart with an attractive image, like invitation to the excibition. Set three main prizes with very attractive conditions of banking service, offer generous just for three people and make this excibition free. Let local artist express themselves in a form of their own crafts, but let the idea be banking. It may be a very interesting local event even for the media, you can get good coverage on it.

    There are a lot of artists around, and they would love the idea.

    what is objective of this 10th anniversary event? the objective will help you to come up with ideas more fitting to achieve. otherwise we will just give you ideas but without knowing why you want ideas.

    having said that, how about organizing a children's painting competition on the occassion of 10th anniversary. the subject of this painting competition can be

    1. what do children want from their banks
    2. what is the future of the banks in Idaho
    3. what is the expectation from IBC of the children

    i believe this will take your bank closer to the heart of people. you can also use this event to tap into the parents of the participating childrens to get new accounts. in this regard you can have some givaways to lure them(parents). besides, do ensure attractive gifts for the participating children and winners, may be a free Credit Card or something.

    alternatively, you can have a special promotional period offer in which, those opening new accounts or taking Credit Cards, a portion of the balance/payment will be donated by the bank, on behalf of the account holder, to an Art College or Art Museum. You can also do the same for some other social cause like helping homeless, donating to victims of natural calamity etc.

    another option is, during the promotion period, every new account opener will get a sapling from the bank to encourage planting more trees and making Idaho greener. also through this IBC will announce to plant 1000 (or any number multiply of 10) trees for making Idaho greener.

    i dont know this is allowed in your laws, can you develop a Future Savings scheme for Children. during your 10th anniversary promotion period, every new account opener or a Generation Gold card holder will get free subscription to FSC. under FSC, every purchase made on GG, 10% of purchase amount will be charged as FSC and will be credited (or debited !?!, i am not sure) to the respective FSC account. the objective is to lure parents to your bank as they are concerned about their children's future.

    I really like the idea of having performances in your loby to celbrate 10 years.

    If you asked the local symphony, and other vocal arts to your location and told them you would donate a percent of new accounts opened that day to them then they may help promote their days appearance.

    Choose 10 different performers on 10 different days. You could even have the performance catered and be open extended hours into the evening for people to open accounts before, after and during the show.
