We chose them mainly because their software offered easy integration with our Maximizer CRM systems, such that leads, reminders, service calls and client information could automatically be sent via the Redrock software and SMS service to contacts on the database.

The applications have varied from emailing prospects belonging to an estate agency about the availability of a property which matches their requirements – literally before the vendor had left the office, through to scheduling the service of cars for a main distributor and reminders for patients in a clinic.

There are any numbers of independent SMS providers in the UK, some of which provide quite inexpensive rates, but the moment you want to integrate their services into any enterprise based SMS service, you are usually met with a major software job on your hands!

Using the combination for marketing requires tact as it is easy to flood people with texts which they don’t want, so we have discouraged clients from using the service for cold calls. For marketing new services to existing customers or for opt-in text mailings to contacts on the CRM system, it has in general been successful. It’s not so much the SMS service which makes it so, it’s the quality of customer or prospect information on the CRM system which ensures that the text is likely to be welcomed.
