Video Camera Choice For Short Clips

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
We do a lot of training and want to put short clips (60 - 90 seconds) of instructors introducing themselves and showing some training. I have someone who knows the editing software Premier but I don't have a digital video camera. I checked Consumer Reports though it wasn't that helpful. I'm not expecting Hollywood quality yet I don't want it to look like home movies either. Any suggestions? Our budget is under $1000. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the site, but we're really looking to do this in-house and on a continous basis. Budget just wouldn't allow going outside.

I did some work with a online photography company, and they suggest the following:

The Sony DCR-VX2100 is a nice but expensive piece of kit.

The Canon XM2 3CCD Camcorder is a nice piece of kit and you might be able to get it around your budget.

Panasonic NV-GS500 Digital Camcorder is a much lower price, but a nice machine (might have world wide stock problems because of its popularity)

Sony HDR-HC3 High Definition Camcorder - again, this should be well within your budget.

    Good Luck

Update: I have just spoken to a professional speaker who, I have just found out, recently bought the DCR-VX2100, he previously had the VX2000 and finds this newer version has better quality images and easier to use.
