Non-profit Organization Website

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hey Gang,

My company has recently decided to donate a portion of our time to help brand and market a non-profit organization. We recently did an overhaul of their site and was curious if we can get your feedback.

Please provide 3 positive and 3 negative thoughts about the site.

All the best

Nice site, very bold and striking, on a quick initial view, it's powerful.

    Some areas for development:

I have viewed it from a corporate network and the Flash doesn't work, btw I've seen "An Inconvenient Truth" and it's incredibly powerful, but not sure how it related to stopping hunger!

Confused with "ADOPT A VOICE" text, I think I know what you mean so, suggest this gets changed to "DONATE TO ADOPT A VOICE"

    "OUR PROJECTS"need the links adding.

Suggest you look at developing a suite of banners and buttons that people can use of their website to get the message across. Remember "Make Poverty History" https://www.makepovertyhistory.org/getinvolved/banners.shtml

For the donation logo add Paypal logo, I know a lot of people who will be turned off when they see a Paypal account pop up without warning!

Homepage shouldn't be longer than the screen height, it puts people off scrolling and going further into the site.

Good clean navigation although there is no "Home" link and there should be.

"Join the Forum" graphic is all wrong, bad choice of colours, font and poor cropping of image. I suggest a simple black and white image, with a handwritten font. Better still would be a pair of hands holding the card, very emotive and will get people to action it.

Newsletter - I suggest you use a newsletter, get people to sign up and send them relevent and timely information (about the site, project, news and events), place a simple "email" box at the top of the page (or at least above the fold).

You need a "Privacy Policy" adding to the site.

Contact me and keep me informed of progress, I would also like to do some free search engine optimisation for the site.

    Good Luck

    3 positive:
Ease of making a donation- looks secure.
Call to Action is good- Could be better.
The News page makes it current.

    3 negative thoughts
    1. Quantify the donation amount. For eg. For 30$ you can pay for a child's monthly food.
For 100$ you can pay for a family of fours monthly food.
For 35$ you can pay for a christmas dinner for a group of 10 children
    etc etc
    2. Contact Us- Why not have it as a left side bar on all pages?
    3. Put in the names of the countries that 'End of Hunger' does most of its work in- people like donating for countries they have soft corners for.
