Need A List Of Companies Running Oracle...

Posted by telemoxie on 500 Points
Does anyone know where I can find or buy a list of companies running Oracle - especially in California? I'm doing a test project with a very small budget, maybe looking for as few as 100 company names to start... ideally I'd like to be able to select companies not only by location but by line of business and company size as well. Thanks.

jpych: I'm sure you work with many relatively large companies with larger budgets. I work with small companies - mostly one or two full time employees. My problem is that I don't have thousands and thousands of dollars for this project. The links you sent me have a 4,000 or 5,000 minimum, which means I would be out of pocket $1200 to $1500 for a $400 project, when all that I need is a hundred or couple hundred names of companies running Oracle in California - preferably in Orange County (don't need contact names, don't need mail addresses, don't need email addresses, don't need titles, don't need phone numbers).

You are asking a nearly impossible question. Oracle's customer list is probably one of their greatest strategic assets. You're not going to find it floating around on Google. Either you are going to have to pay someone to buy it, or do some extensive research.

I'd start with the Oracle user groups. Oracle also just had their OpenWorld conference. They probably don't publish a list of attendees for public consumption, but see if you can talk to someone who attended.

Extensive research is a big part of what I do.

For now, I have a few free sources identified (for example, a Monster job search for Oracle will mostly turn up headhunters, but also a few end user companies... a Jigsaw.com search with 'Oracle' in the title will provide a few hundred company names... Craigslist.com can help identify company names from resumes and help wanted ads... and there are other methods...)

Oracle does, by the way, list quite a number of of their customers on their web site (mostly international) - and so does some of their partners.

The research process is of course a bit tedious, finding companies one at a time. The list broker process is easy, but expensive, and produces thousands of names. I'd sure like to find some options for hundreds rather than single names or thousands of names.

I suggest there are enought Oracle mailing lists out there that you could get some pretty good data by making a request on the list...

Something like,,, answer a few questions about Oraclel and win an ipod..

Then use the survey to rank and capture the information.
