Web Site Hits - What's A Good Monthly Average?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
My company's Web site averaged a one percent increase per month in the number of hits it received from January 2006 to January 2007 for a 12 percent total increase. I'm thinking it could be much better.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of increases indicate a good rate of traffic growth?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Regards,

Bob

I agree with the "It depends" comment, I have a number of sites that have a static number of visitors, from one month to the next, just get a good level of sales and opportunities from them.

Look at the problem from the other end ... is your companys making enough money from their online presence? If they have other channels then my rule of thumb is that at least 5% of revenues should be from online sources.

if not, get in touch or post a project.

Sounds like you do need some serious and professional advice to help convince your team in Brazil of the need to do something!

Unfortunately I haven't got time to provide a full answer right now, but look into where the site is hosted. If hosted outside the US, it is probably harming your ranking results. That may help them decide to host in the US a special US verison!

Conduct a focus group to see what people outside your business thinks, use family and friends and report any findings back to Brazil.

Sounds to me like they are harming the brand in the US!

    Good Luck
