Name & Tagline For Wedding & Event Planning Bus

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello! I'm new to this forum so after reading other questions / answers I hope I can provide enough information for you all to help me.

I am Wendy Garner from Rock Island, IL (Quad Cities) minutes away from the Mississippi River and the Iowa border. I will be starting a new home based wedding & event planning business within the next two months or so and want to start this out the "right way".

I am looking for a name and a tagline that will somehow focus on creating events to remember for the "milestone or traditional events" in everyones lives. IE: weddings, anniversaries, graduations, reunions, birthdays. I'm still struggling with what will make my business unique in this area. But thought that maybe by focusing on creating the memories of each event / experiences with a high attention to the details and even the personal event services such as addressing invites, managing the guest lists, assembling the guest informational packets, assembling the centerpieces or favors and event running any necessary errands related to the wedding/reception.

I would also like to sell wedding invites, etc. and offer the services of addressing & mailing them, creating the newsletters or guest informational materials, and eventually designing and printing the invitations once I get the right computer & printer to do this.

I have almost completed my correspondence course for wedding & event planning - should be done by the end of June. I will also take a course or learn how to do calligraphy writing to offer this service to my clients as well when offering the addressing of invitations.

Although this area is somewhat large, Chicago, Peoria, DesMoines, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids & Waterloo are our feeder cities, we do not have but a few wedding & event planners here locally. We do have a great wedding website that actually gets about several million hits per year and includes the Chicago area. I'm going to check with them to get more detailed demographic information. But for now I believe we have a variety of income levels but most are about mid-level in this area. We are almost saturated with hotels and have a limited number of non-hotel sites but only a few of our locations can accommodate above 300ppl per event. So a very long term goal I have would be to create or remodel a site to accommodate the larger groups to include having separate rooms for wedding ceremonies and receptions.

As for my background to help with this venture...I have worked in the hotel industry for eleven years and most of which have been assisting clients plan their weddings, reunions, meetings, banquets, you name it. I have also helped my mother when she had her own wedding business called Weddings Unique.

Even though I have assisted my mom and various family and friends for the last 20 years, I am just now deciding to venture out and start my own business. Mom included in her business selling the invitations, made the dresses including a few bridal gowns no less, making the flowers - both fresh & silk, and the cakes too - which is how she started out. Although Mom (Cindy) no longer has her business due to health concerns, she is supporting me with this venture. I would also like to offer flower arranging at a later date once I learn more of the ropes for this avenue.

As for a name, she would really like me to go with Weddings Unique (or Unique Events) by Wendy Garner and capitalize on my last name. Although there is absolutely no relation to James or Jennifer Garner. LOL

Here are some names that I have thought of however some of the domains are not available. So any play on the ideas would be appreciated.

Everlasting Memories
Traditional Events
Defining Moments
Events to Remember
Memories of a Lifetime
Unique Occasions by Wendy
An Occasion to Remember
Timeless Treasure ??

I've thought too, along the lines of a slogan on how this is your day to relax and enjoy the memorable experience with your family and friends while I take care of the details (& the stress) for you.

I'd appreciate any ideas and suggestions.

Thank you!

Wendy Sue

You have done more thinking about this than many of the people who ask for help with naming and taglines. Thank you.

I have two suggestions ... neither of them the direct assistance you asked for.

First, you need to commit your business and marketing plans to paper, if you haven't already done so. Don't go into this with an attitude that says, "I'll deal with that when I have to." Plan for your success so you'll be prepared when things don't happen as fast as you would like them to, or when something happens that leapfrogs the growth curve you've anticipated.

You may want to check out the MarketingProfs Small Business Marketing Seminar from May 18 on The Reasons Most Small Businesses Fail. There's also a companion report, or template, that you can use to make sure you've taken the important things into consideration as you plan your business direction.

The second suggestion is that you plan to participate in the July Small Business Marketing Seminar on Positioning, Naming and Taglines. You'll find lots of good suggestions and examples that will apply to your situation. And if you want more after that, let me know and perhaps I can help. (We've done small projects like this in very similar categories ... including logo design, brochures, etc.)

Sorry this sounds like a commercial. I wouldn't make these suggestions if I didn't really think they'd help you address your core issues.
