How To Crack America

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi,

I am a marketing student attending the University Brighton here in the UK. I am currently writing my final year dissertation looking into the success rate of british dot.com companies entering the US market?

The project will aim to 'identify the difficulties associated with selling products into the US from a british website and to identify marketing strategies which will overcome these difficulties to enable monitoring and hence further improvement'.

Any help or advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance.

Chloe, if you're having difficulty FINDING a company such as you've described, then maybe you need to tweak the research strategy behind your dissertation.

Find a dozen UK companies selling via the Web in the US and do some interviews. Ask them how they think they rank among their own US competitors, and ask them to describe the marketing obstacles they've encountered. Then use your new knowledge to craft a survey that you can send to fifty UK companies.

That's what I would do, anyway!

Can you tell us the site URL?

Then we can start to put our thinking and our comments to you, into a more targeted perspective, rather than a more generalised one...

If it's confidential for some reason we'll understand... On the other hand your thesis/dissertation will be published eventually so it won't be confidential forever. Up to you.
