Email Response To A Customer's Request For Information

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Does anyone know where i can find a good, standard email response I can send out to a customer after thay have requested information on my product? I don't want it to be too cheesy or automated, but concise. I also need to be able to insert a couple of customized lines. Any examples You have used or places i can find them?

Andrew, I just looked through a smattering of emails I've archived, and I couldn't find any remarkable examples from companies whose websites have triggered autoresponses to me. They were pretty consistent, though, as well as dull...

"Thank you for [doing whatever you did]. We are [doing something as you requested]. Click the link below to [finish the process]."

I thought SURELY the Motley Fool guys would produce something unique, and I even went to the fool.com site to register and check out the results. Alas, they have become just as robotic-sounding as the rest.

I think all biz communication needs to sound like it came from a person, not a corporation. Now that I think about it, I'd better go check on what OUR responder "sounds" like!

    Hey Andrew,

I'm kind of unclear on your exact needs, but let me address it two ways:

    1) Is this after your customer has talked to prospects on the phone, and they are following up? (pre-qualified)

    2) Or a request via email after browsing their website? (first stage)

If it #1, and if you aren't comfortable with your own copywriting, then Michele's idea is great.

If it is #2, depending on your budget, different service providers provide different types of dynamic content delivery, from "welcome" to "confirmed opt-in" to body content, depending on, as Michele mentioned, input from the requester upon signup/request for information.

Exact Target is one, but there are many, and everybody has their favorite so you might want to just try some of them out, they all have free trials.

You might want to then combine the two; professional copy in an autoresponder with customized content inserted by dynamic content delivery - pretty sweet route.

Now, if you are talking about an on-going autoresponder campaign that takes place over a period of time, usually 7 different messages, that is another animal because these delivery systems are different, if you need info on this, let me know, and if none of my answer is what you are looking for, let me know that also.

Andrew, I just unsubscribed to my experimental membership to the Motley Fool. The signature on auto-response email is anonymous, but it is worth sharing with you:

I guess their wry sense of communication is not totally dried up!
