What Is The Best Way To Approach Editors To Publish An Article?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Our small business wants to publish an article about a lifestyle trend. We still need contact information of publications which would print an article like that; we are in favor of magazines. We did a google search but often couldn't get the actual names of editors out of that. How should we go about this?

I agree with what amandavega said. Definitely read the publication so you know about what they take, how it is written, who the audience is, etc.

It sounds like you may actually be going the wrong way. I read publications in my area (staffing), and then thought of what I could write that would fit for them. I went after web e-magazines, for which I found the contact info on the web site. You can see the articles I wrote and where they went to at https://www.helpUhire.com/CO-news.html.

JBTron is on in saying that you need to be in contact with the folks at the media. Talk to them by phone beforte you submit an article. Having cbeen contacted by you, they will treat your article a little more seriously as they will have some personal contact.

I haven't hit what JBtron said about the editor's changing the article - they usually take it as is, ask me to change it, or outright reject it.
