What Would Be A Good Interior Color For Our Retail Motorcycle Accessories Store

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are in the process of renovating a building in order to open a retail location for our motorcycle accressories store. Our current location is two shades of blue, light & dark, and customers seemed to think it "cool". I'd like our new location to be more upbeat and eye catching but it's not a very large area so dark colors might not work. I'm working with a 30' x 30' retail area, 8' ceilings.
Of course I have ideas but I'm not an interior designer so any and all suggestions will be considered. Time is of the essence because we would like to occupy the building within the month.

I suggest that you click on the link to the Search Questions feature on the right side of this page, then try using the keyword "color." Among the 17 results I just saw there, two or three questions are similar to yours, and they received answers with links to many terrific color-related resources on the web.

    Krum,

I'm no interior designer but a degree in Art and painting pictures has given me some experience into color theory and color psychology. My instincts (this is totally instinctive) tells me to suggest the colors pink and candy apple red. But you feel free to do what you want to do. Okay!

This is upbeat. The pink is calming soothing but the red will increase the pulse and will bring out the racey side of your clients. Use Red sparingly because it is hot like fire and will influence the attitudes.

Use these colors only if you want it to be upbeat and eye catching.

Remember the pink will open up the tight space. If this works for you please let me know. Again I don't know nothing about motorcycles but give me a palette and brushes and "It's On like Donkey Kong".

Is there anything else I can do for you?

    Virago,

Yes, I have to laugh too :-) But you're only thinking logical, based on image type...not instinctive.

I'm thinking try something different. It's only paint you can change the color but why not try it?

Burly bikers might laugh but if the bikes are set off by the background it's a go. If they laugh now you've got an icebreaker that can't be beat.

They know their bikes and if the bikes are hittin, hot, sizzlin' and there moved by the atmosphere...You've got the hottest spot in the town where bikers are packin' the place just to say they saw it. Furthermore Bikers like girlz and girlz like pink.

I guess maybe I'm out there a little ;-) Maybe you're a little in the box & I'm a little out the box. Al it's just a thought. Again it's your decision...

but just think...WHAT IF it works! It won't be the first time someone couldn't see the vision. Ha..ha! I remember the first time I called myself the Customer Passion Evangelist a lot of people laughed but when my closing ratio hit 85% the Customer Passion Evangelist was a hard name to shake. Now it turns heads. A few bikes sold in the beginning a lot more hot bikes sold later on and you're laughing right along with your customer all the way to the bank. What a great relationship builder and the buzz is magnificent. Burly Bikers in a Pink Bike shop with their girlz. Can you see it?

Al is there anything else I can do for you.

    Virago,

great response. I also enjoyed your interactive bio on your companys website. I here what you're saying and I agree with you bikers in tutu's would be bad publicity. You raise some good points.

    Krum,

as I said before it's your choice. Maybe the upbeat and Eye catching needs to be thought through based on what customers would appreciate as it relates to how they see upbeat and eye catching. One things for sure the customer is King and If at first you don't succeed...Test it, test it, test it.

Is there anything else I can do for you?
