Alarm Company Based On Value

Posted by jcasalou on 250 Points
I am looking for a cost-effective way to advertise our franchise to our main target market. We are a national alarm company that is based on value. Our prices are still very competitive and in some cases better than the competition. I have brainstormed the basics such as radio spots and banner ads for frequented local sites. Enlisting our company in a sub-contractors "yellow pages" type book. I am looking for some other "out of the box" type ideas.

Here are services we offer:

Access Control
CCTV
Audio Intrusion
Fire Alarm

Our system eliminates false alarms. Nearly 98% of alarms called in are false which means fines for business owners and wasted tax dollars on law enforcement. We have an unprecedented $5000 false alarm guarantee.

Our main customer demographic would be business owners with commercially located (non-res.) businesses of any size.

I'd get on a subscription of new business owners. Alarms as you describe are part of an owner's start up costs. Get there first before they invest in a competing product.

Look for areas to sell them once, but get multiple sales. Almost every city's business journal publishes their "book of lists". See what franchises are based from your city and call on them. For example-- in Denver, Quizno's is based here. I called on them and got product into their building standard. I was selling product in 80 stores a month internationally. The multiple sales don't necessarily have to be franchises. Look for corporate headquarters and again-- sell them once -- get into the master specification and you will have multiple sales. Develop relationships with contractors and building owners. Join orgs like BOMA (Building Owners) and IFMA (Facilty Managers).

I think you have some fodder for a non commercial topic. Develop it and start talking to groups.

Yellow Pages and banner ads are passive. This type of product needs to be sold in a more aggressive manner.

Thank you for the response! We already have many lead generation sites in order as well as bidding outlets for new construction.

I was looking for methods more geared towards advertising our brand.

    Cheers

Why not a pay-per-click campaign? Your $5000 false alarm guarantee is simple and eye catching. You could target certain regions as well.

    Hello,

False alarms are just one concern of business owners today. A bigger issue is the safety of your employees at work. This could put you out of business.

Get out and network non-competeting industries that reach your target audience.

For example: Movers, Telecoms. Computer service companies, office equipment, business brokers, commercial insurance, etc.

Build a referral network that gets you in the door before they move. Have your sales people join BNI or an organized networking group. Get out and speak at local events.

New Business lists have their pit falls. Most start-ups today are home based. If you decide to go down this path, select by sic codes that don't lend themselves to home based busnisses. Make sure the list is not derived from yellow page ads. They should come from county records.

    Good Luck

We currently do everything that you've suggested.

As far as your comment regarding us being put out of business. That does not seem to be the case. You are correct in what you say about employee safety. However our industry business does better in times of recessions and bad economy.

Thank you for your efforts though!

    Hello,

Sorry for the miss understanding. I was referring to business owners not providing a safe environment for their employees. This could result in legal problems.

    Thank you
